How to Enable 2FA in DirectAdmin
- Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel.
- Navigate to your account settings:
- Click on your username or profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Two-Factor Authentication or Security Settings.
- Choose to enable 2FA. A QR code will be displayed on screen.
- Open an authenticator app on your smartphone - Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator all work - and scan the QR code.
- The app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this code into DirectAdmin to confirm the setup.
- DirectAdmin will provide a set of backup codes. Store these somewhere safe - you'll need them if you ever lose access to your authenticator app.
2FA is now enabled. From this point on, you'll be prompted for a code from your authenticator app each time you log in to DirectAdmin.
Tips
- Keep Backup Codes Safe Store your backup codes somewhere secure and offline - a password manager or printed copy in a safe place works well.
- Lost Authenticator App Use one of your backup codes to regain access to your account if you lose or change your phone.
- Locked Out If you are completely locked out and have no backup codes, contact our support team and we'll help you regain access.
Enabling 2FA greatly improves your account security and helps protect your email and data. We strongly recommend enabling it on all accounts.
