Email Quota Warnings
Overview
If your mailbox reaches its storage limit, you may receive quota warnings or experience issues sending/receiving email. This guide explains how to handle those warnings.
What Happens When You Hit Your Quota?
- Incoming messages may bounce back to the sender.
- You may be unable to send new emails.
- You’ll see warnings like “Mailbox is full” or “Quota exceeded.”
How to Check Email Usage
- Log in to DirectAdmin.
- Go to E-Mail Accounts.
- Locate your email address in the list.
- Check the Usage / Max column for current storage.
How to Free Up Space
- Delete old or large emails (especially with attachments).
- Empty Trash, Spam, and Sent folders.
- Download emails to a client like Thunderbird and remove them from the server.
- Enable automatic deletion of old mail in your mail client settings.
